Today I am going to show you what a typical day looks like for us on the candida diet. This diet feels really similar to the Whole 30 for me although there are some definite distinctions.
The diet we are following is no sugar,no gluten, no dairy, no fruit, no starchy vegetables, and avoiding certain foods that can have a high fungal content like peanuts,pistachios and mushrooms.
As most of you know, my husband was recently hospitalized with ulcerative colitis. We have been working with his gastroenterologist and a more natural minded doctor to do everything we can to bring his health back. He had some comprehensive stool testing done at the doctor and it can back that he had some pathogens and an overgrowth of candida. I personally have not had any testing but I wanted to do this diet with him to support him and to further my health as well as I’m sure it can hurt to eat this way!
I’ve been fairly satisfied on this diet but I miss fruit and potatoes in a bad way. I’m starting to get really tired of eggs but the kimchi helps keeps things interesting. I wish we were getting more bone broth into our diet but honestly, it is too hot. We don’t have air conditioning in our house and sipping warm bone broth is the least attractive thing.
